Where is the fuse interior fuse box? ›

Usually, you will find two fuse boxes in the car. One is located under the hood and the other is found in the dashboard or near the steering wheel.

Locating your fuse box

You must know where your fuse box is located, in case you need to turn the power off in the event of an emergency. Fuse boxes are commonly found in utility rooms, porches or under-the-stairs cupboards. You may also have one in your hallway or garage.

The main fuse box is typically located under the hood, while secondary fuse panels might be inside the car, often near the dashboard or steering wheel. The fuse's wire conductor breaks when the current exceeds the ampere limit, which manufacturers usually define along with different color codes on each fuse.

The main service panel is typically located in the basem*nt, or (in a house without a basem*nt) in a utility room. Some homes will also have a sub-panel, which is a smaller version of the main panel, to control electrical circuits in a garage, a workshop, or other outbuilding.

Check your garage for the circuit breaker or fuse box. It might also be in a storage room, utility room, the basem*nt, or a hallway. If you can't find your box in one of these areas, look again or see if you can spot where the power connects to your house from outside. Check for your box in the surrounding areas.

Most vehicles have two fuse boxes, with one under the hood and the other in the cabin. You can usually find the other fuse box in the dashboard on the driver's side, but some manufacturers also place it below the glove box.

To remove the fuse box lid, put your finger in the notch on the lid, pull it toward you, and take it out of its hinges. The fuses are located in five fuse boxes. The interior fuse boxes are located under the dashboard on the driver's and passenger's side.

The fuse wire is always connected in the live wire of the circuit because if the fuse is put in the neutral wire, then due to excessive flow of current when the fuse burns, current stops flowing in the circuit, but the appliance remains connected to the high potential point of the supply through the live wire.

The J1939 terminating resistor is located behind the instrument cluster. It may be blue or black, but will appear as shown. Unplug the end of the J1939 adapter. It will separate into two pieces as shown below.
