If I am accepted to Biola, does that automatically guarantee my acceptance into Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts?
No. Admission to Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts is separate from but contingent upon your admission to Biola University. Admission to Biola University does not guarantee admission into Biola's Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts.
Is the application to Biola University the same as the application to Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts?
No. The cinema and media arts application is separate from and in addition to your application to Biola University.
When will my application be considered for acceptance into Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts?
We will consider your application only after you have been accepted to Biola University. We suggest you submit your application to Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts at the same time you submit your application to Biola. Notification of acceptance will be mailed according to the deadlines above.
Should I submit my application to Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts at the same time as my application to Biola?
Yes, we recommend submitting both applications at the same time.
Do I need extensive media experience to be accepted into Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts?
Please be assured that extensive media experience or an incredible demo reel is not a prerequisite for admission into Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts. Some experience is helpful, but we are interested in students who have demonstrated academic success, leadership ability, creative thinking, problem-solving, dreaming and incredible character.
Am I required to submit samples of my work?
Yes. Depending on the emphasis you are interested in, a writing sample or production reel is expected. Please place your best work first, not necessarily your most recent work.
What equipment should I own?
Equipment and software needed to complete coursework are supplied by the school and housed in the Studio Facilities. While students may purchase professional equipment for personal use, it is not a requirement of the major. A laptop is highly recommended for academic course work. Contact the department for specific equipment and software recommendations.
Do you accept transfer students?
Yes. For more information, please contact the department directly. More than nine academic semester units can be applied toward the cinema and media arts major.
