One of the best aspects of Elden Ring is its robust RPG mechanics. There is a wide variety of different attributes, weapons, and talismans for you to create the build of your dreams. Whether it’s a sneaky archer, a powerful mage, or an ax-wielding warrior, Elden Ring has it all!

Today, we’re going to focus on one of the many possible builds you can create in Elden Ring. We’ll be deep-diving into the Berserker, an agile and strong warrior who wields two greatswords at once. This is a melee-focused playstyle with a big emphasis on jump attacks to deal damage.

Berserker Build Guide

Without any further delays, let’s get right into the Berserker build guide in Elden Ring!

Class & Attributes

Elden Ring: Berserker Build Guide | High Ground Gaming (5)

To start off our guide, let’s first discuss the ideal class. The Berserker is a Strength-based melee build, so you’re going to want something that supports that kind of playstyle. The best options for this are the Warrior class and the Vagabond. I went with the Vagabond, as it has the added bonus of being the best build for beginners, but either class works for this build.

Next up is leveling your attributes. The primary stat you’ll want to go for is Strength. You need high Strength to wield certain weapons in the game effectively. Added Strength also allows you to deal more damage with certain melee weapons, which is useful — the ideal Berserker can kill a regular enemy in only one or two attacks!

A good secondary attribute to consider is Endurance. This allows you to attack more often and roll around more. Rolling around is very important in this build, as it doesn’t use a shield to block attacks. Vigor is great, too, as it gives you more health, which can make combat encounters more forgiving if you miss one of your attacks or can’t dodge an enemy strike.

This build doesn’t use magic, so you can safely ignore most of the other attributes in the game.

Weapons & Armor

Elden Ring: Berserker Build Guide | High Ground Gaming (6)

A Berserker playstyle involves using two great swords equipped at once. I recommend the Bastard Sword and the Claymore in the early game. These two weapons are relatively easy to acquire when you first begin the game and don’t require very high attributes to be used effectively.

You can purchase the Bastard Sword from a Nomadic Merchant located in the Weeping Peninsula. His campsite is set up near Castle Morne Rampart. The sword can be purchased off of him for exactly 3000 runes, which won’t take long to get.

The Claymore is located not far from the previous weapon. It’s also located on the Weeping Peninsula, at Castle Morne. You can get there by heading to the very southern point of the peninsula.

Once you get inside, enter the courtyard and walk past the huge pile of dead bodies. Around the right side of the pile is an entrance to a building. Inside the room is a chest that contains the sword. Just be careful — the area is full of hostile enemies.

As for armor, you can use whatever you find that you think would protect you the best. If you’re looking for a decent suit of gear in the early game, try the Knight Set. You can purchase the chest piece for 4,500 runes from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold.

Talismans

Now for the most exciting and interesting part of our Elden Ring: Berserker build guide — the talismans! Talismans are equippable items that can give you certain stat bonuses, like the badges in the Paper Mario series.

We’ve recommended a few talismans below. You can use this interactive map to look for their exact location if you have trouble finding them — just look to the right of the screen and select “Talismans” from the bottom part of the list.

  • Claw Talisman: Stormveil Castle, on top of a watchtower.
  • Radagon’s Scarseal: Weeping Peninsula. Dropped by the boss Ancient Hero of Zamor.
  • Erdtree’s Favor: Fringefolk Hero’s Grave. Needs stonesword keys to enter.
  • Crimson Amber Medallion: Weeping Peninsula. Sold by a nomadic merchant.

Claw Talisman

The absolute must-have talisman for this build is the Claw Talisman (shown above). This simple ability allows you to deal more damage with every jump attack. Jump attacks are a stable of the Berserker build, and are required to do the most damage. After jumping up in the air, you can right-click on PC or press L1 on console to swing both your swords down at once.

Radagon’s Scarseal

The next talisman you should pick up is the Radagon’s Scarseal. This item increases your attributes in exchange for taking increased damage from attacks. This is great for increasing your Strength and Endurance, and the drawback of increased damage taken isn’t that noticeable. Even if you do find yourself dying more easily, you can always add a few extra points to Vigor.

Erdtree’s Favor

Another great talisman is the Erdtree’s Favor. This increases your stamina, health, and equip load. Having higher stamina is good because, as mentioned earlier, you’ll spend a lot of time rolling around to dodge attacks. More health is good for when you need to tank some damage. Carrying around two greatswords can weigh you down, and an increased equip load negates this issue.

Crimson Amber Medallion

Last but not least is the Crimson Amber Medallion. This is a simple talisman that can increase your maximum health. It’s not a requirement for this build, but if you happen to have it on you and have an empty slot, you should definitely consider equipping it.
